Who can participate

Pretty much anyone can participate. If you are a complete beginner and want to try out a whitewater kayak then you are welcome to do so. Our guides along with a few other experienced kayakers will be around to walk you through the basics of the sport and provide you with tips and pointers throughout the day.

Please note that this is not a course, so unlike our standard Goodwave courses there is no structure to what you will be taught.

Intermediate to advanced kayakers are welcome to join as well. There is a significantly  large water body around which is good for practising your rolling and paddling skills. Note that we have tested the water sample from a lab in Bangalore. A minuscule amount of e-coli is present but it is within safe levels for watersports activities.  For those that intend to practise their eskimo rolls, we advise you to carry nose-plugs. These can also be rented from us.

Costs

  • Camp charges. Rs. 1000 (including lunch)
  • Boat + equipment rental charges . Rs. 2000 (Only for those that do not have their own gear)

Additionally :

There is an option for those who want to go there the previous evening and camp out (highly recommended), in which the camp charges are Rs. 1250 (including breakfast) and lunch will be charged as per actuals.

We have a maximum of 6 sets of boats + gear  which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Otherwise, there is no limit to the number of people who can join as long as you arrange your own boat.

What to Carry

  • Sun-screen
  • Change of clothes
  • Appropriate footwear for kayaking. Slip-ons, crocs, sandals with a sketchy velcro are not suitable. There are rock near the water which are sharp and slippery so we strongly advise you to use good sports shoes or sneakers, diving boots or outdoor sandals.
  • Snacks, chocolates
  • Personal medication if any
  • 2-ltrs of drinking water (minimum).  It may be hot so one needs to keep themselves hydrated,

We strongly advise you to consider not bringing any plastic bags or plastic bottles. Also there is a strict no-littering policy and those found to litter (including carelessly disposing cigarette butts) are liable to be banned from further Goodwave Trips.
